Wow, two posts in one week – I think that is a new record for me!!
I picked up this solid wood twin bed frame (I think it is maple) for a steal at an auction recently. My youngest son Connor has been sleeping on a mattress on one of those metal bed frames with no headboard or foot board. My intent was that I would make a headboard for his bed, but I just have not had the time to get around to making anything, or for that matter to really come up with an idea for it, so when I saw this bed frame up for auction I thought it would be perfect!
I had a few cans of left over chalk paint in various colours that mixed together to come up with this colour for his bed, and just started painting away. I was able to paint the bed frame in one day given that chalk paint dries fast. I so love projects that I can finish up quickly!….it helps prevents me from starting anything new!
The photos below were taken after two coats of paint had been applied.
Once completely dry, I heavily distressed the bed in areas using a sanding block, and then finished it off with a coat of clear wax.
And here is Connor’s bed looking oh-so-cute in his room….
Recognize the bedside tables?….I painted those little cuties up quite a while ago…..at least I think I wrote a blog about them! I was initially going to paint the bed frame the same as the tables, but thought that may be too matchy-matchy, so opted not to.
Here are a couple close ups of some distressing….I think it really gives the bed more character….
Once again, it is amazing to see what the power of paint can do! If any of you have bed frames that need a little freshening up…just let me know as I would love to help you!
Enjoy the rest of the week!
